The Story
Thomas Todd started the way most good things do — with a frustration. Walter Thomas Todd, a golfer based in Auckland, New Zealand, couldn't find the perfect scorecard holder. Everything he found was either cheaply made, poorly designed, or both. So he decided to make one himself.
With no formal training in leatherwork, he started from scratch - learning to cut, stitch, and finish leather through trial, error, and a growing collection of failed prototypes. He chose vegetable-tanned leather for its honesty: it's the oldest tanning method in the world, it contains no harsh chemicals, and it develops a patina over time that makes each piece genuinely unique. The result is a material that feels alive - one that responds to touch, to sunlight and molds to your back pocket.
The Philosophy
Every Thomas Todd scorecard holder is still made by hand, one at a time. There's no factory, no production line, no shortcuts. Each piece is cut from a carefully selected hide, saddle-stitched, fitted with a magnetic closure, and finished with edges that are burnished smooth. Every unit is individually numbered and dated - a small mark of accountability and pride. It takes time. But a scorecard holder that's made with care becomes something you reach for every round and captures every moment of your golfing journey.
The Milestone Idea
The idea for Milestone Engraving came from the same place the product did - from being a golfer. Similar to how you might keep a golf ball that marks a special round, your scorecard holder can act as a record of these moments. A first hole in one. The day you finally broke 80. A once-in-a-lifetime round at a dream course. Those moments deserved more than a memory. They deserved a permanent mark. So we built that into the product - a way to record your greatest achievements directly into the leather. The holder grows with you with milestones and with the leather patina.
